Dulcie Dunlop Ladds was born in Brisbane, and lived for some years on a banana plantation at Burleigh Heads, Queensland, with her husband, Charles Ladds. She was active in amateur productions in Brisbane and the Gold Coast. She had over 300 short stories published, and won the 1942 C.J. Dennis Memorial Award in 1942 for "We have our dreams". Charles Ladds went to sea at 15, and after several years travelling the world, settled down at Burleigh Heads. His book "I'll go no more a-roving", earned p...
